Marian Binder b 1958 Springs Gauteng studied languages for her BA. She later returned to her passion for artmaking and studying botanical art.
Her trained and sensitive eye focusses on small details, which are executed with discipline and exactitude, in so doing building her artistic statement.
She explores texture and seeks out the essential core of her subject matter. She is clearly fascinated with describing and recording botanical detail in all its perfection, including the pollinating agent for each specific plant.
Her other area of interest is her focus on animal life, where she emphasises the eyes of the creature to reflect its soul, thereafter focusing on its form and individual characterisation.
Marian’s ability to capture likeness, inherent personality and idiosyncratic traits sets her artistic talent apart.
Portraiture is such a rarefied skill enhanced by super sensorial observation, combined with a masterful understanding of drawing and painting technique, in which Binder excels.
