KRISTIN NG YANG

Kristin Ng Yang b 1970 Zibo China MA has exhibited regularly in China, Italy and in South Africa. She participated in the 2019 China/ South Africa Exhibition in Cape Town. Most recently, at the end of 2024, Yang celebrated her 25th anniversary in South Africa with an exhibition at the Tatham Museum featuring an autobiographical statement covering aspects of her own personal and artistic journey.  Thereafter, she travelled to China where she held an exhibition in Shanghai and in 2025 Beijing.

Her oeuvre is marked by incredible diversity of both image and technique. This manifests in any medium including oil painting, hand-printing, charcoal drawing collage combined with drawing and other mixed media artworks.

Her charcoal drawing deserves special mention. It reveals fearless energy, line interacting with textural qualities, space and form.

Her oil paintings offer a wide range of technique from layers of superimposed colour, allowing depth and suggested textures to thinly applied oil where the brushwork is invisible and line creates form.

Kristin’s choice of subject matter is wide-ranging and explores animal and bird life, the changing effects that global warming manifests, socio-cultural mores, her observation of fellow human daily activity as well as exploring and expressing her inner feelings.

Her artistic language focuses on the positive rather than the destructive and negative. It encourages viewing meditation and questioning. Her art exudes an inner harmony and peacefulness.

Her work has been widely collected and is included in the Durban Art Gallery collection.
