Amos Letsoalo b.1969, Ga Molepo Dihlopanang, Limpopo is employed as curator of the Polokwane Museum Limpopo and is recognised for his contributions as both a curator and an artist. He has served on multiple occasions as a national judge for the Absa Atelier Award.
Letsoalo’s art interprets the indigenous culture of the northern Sotho community in Limpopo, with a particular emphasis on daily life within the villages and associated human activities.
His distinctive artistic approach incorporates charcoal, pencil crayon, and collage to achieve complex textural effects, while selective use of colour delivers unexpected visual highlights. The integration of detailed elements and collage further enhances the imagery’s richness.
The restrained and thoughtful approach to his subject matter produces visually compelling and sophisticated compositions. This nuanced and evocative imagery allows for diverse individual interpretations, intentionally maintaining an element of ambiguity.
His works are included in the collections of local museums, the Smith College Museum of Art (Massachusetts), the United Nations Collection, the South African Embassy (UK), as well as various international and private collections.
